Installing a trolling motor can be a very quick and simple task. Host John Greviskis reveals just how easy it can be.

If you are upgrading from a smaller trolling motor, disconnect the power and unbolt the existing trolling motor. Most trolling motors are held in place by only four bolts.

Tip: Trolling motors work best if installed at the bow of the boat (figure A). This will give you better handling and response time when turning.

Put the new trolling motor into the same place where the old one was, and then tighten down the bolts (figure B). Next, wire up the batteries, and then connect them to the trolling motor. If you are using more than one battery, run them in series to give you more use time.

Note: For instructions on running batteries parallel, see Segment Two: Adding More Battery Power.
