- The first thing to do when cleaning wheels is to remove the plastic covers or hubcaps.
- Clean the wheels with a mixture of car-wash soap and water, using a mitt or a brush to give them a good cleaning (an old toothbrush might help get into the tight spots).
- Rinse off the soap and dirt.
- If you have aluminum- or chrome-plated wheels, use wheel polish to get them shining again. If your wheels are painted or clear-coated steel, use a little car wax and buff them to a shine.
- Once the wheels are clean, it's time to move on to the tires. You can use soapy water and a stiff brush to clean them, then rinse them well. When they're dry, apply a little tire dressing to give them a detailed look.
