Show Tips, Flash and Mirrors- Consider parking your car on some indoor/outdoor carpeting. This will help the car stand out against grass or pavement.
- If you're indoors or on a solid, level surface you can focus attention under the car by jacking it up. Paint your jack stands to match the color of your car (figure A).
- Highlight your suspension work using some 12-inch mirror tiles placed strategically beneath the car (figure B).
Hood PropsNext, it's time to focus on what's under the hood. Using a few simple materials, you can create some simple hood props. - First, determine how high you want the hood to sit, and pick a good spot for the supports that has as solid surface on either side (figure C).
- Cut the PVC pipe to that length using a hacksaw. Do the same for one more piece of pipe.
Sand the surface of the pipe to allow the paint to better adhere. Prime the pieces with a couple of thin coats, and after they dry spray them with an even coat of high-gloss paint (figure D). After the paint dries, you can take it a step further by dipping the ends into red plastic dip (figure E).
Allow the paint and plastic dip to dry fully. After everything dries, you can lift the hood and pop the hood supports into place (figure F).
The Bottom Line:Metal supplies $60 Photo emulsion kit $200 Table legs and hardware $30 Piping $60 Paint $10 Flywheels $0 Audio device $105 Hood props $12 Carpet $100 Total = $577
