An angular ring, a cupped head and cooler nails might sound like things you'd take on a fishing trip, but they're some of the basic tools used for hanging drywall.

Drywall nails and screws are available in several different sizes. Nails should have angular or cupped heads (figure A). Make sure you use type S, G or W screws (figure B). Nails are needed every 8". Screws are needed every 12" to 16".

To keep from tearing the drywall, use a special drywall hammer with a rounded head (figure C). An electric screwdriver may be used on drywall, but electric air-powered nailers are not recommended, as they may damage the surface.
