    Topics covered on today's episode:

Repairing a crack in a ceiling and matching the finish

    Replacing a suspended ceiling

    Cleaning and covering ceiling tile

    Removing smoke from the house

    Examples of red-tinted mulch

Replacing damaged drywall ceiling and matching starburst pattern

    Removing black mold from brick

Restoring luster to terra-cotta tile floors

    Perking up dull paneling

    Removing mold from log-cabin walls

    Installing remote-control locks

    Tips:

    • Two inverted milk crates and a 2x12 make an excellent mini-scaffold for indoor work.

    • To keep the pores of your hands dirt and grease free, wipe on a thin coat of shaving cream before starting a messy task.

    • To measure tall walls, butt the measuring tape against the floor and extend it to the ceiling. Now bend it over at the ceiling and eyeball the measurement. You'll be accurate within a quarter-inch of height.

    • If you find yourself stuck with super glue on your hands, hold a remover-soaked cotton ball on the area until the glue disappears.

    • Many stains can be pretreated by blotting with baby wipes. Grass stains will usually come out of your clothes with vinegar before machine washing.

    • You can use a baby's hairbrush to clean away dust and dirt on delicate lampshades.
