  • Jewelry Making
  • From "Crafty Kids"
    episode DCK-112
    advertisement

Kate Supnik is only 11 years old, yet she's already been in the jewelry business for more than a year! Supnik answered her classmates' jewelry demands with unique designs and then watched her business take off. Here she shares tips that add fun and efficiency to jewelry making.

Needle-nose pliers are a necessity for creating earrings because of the small details that are involved. Scissors and glue are also essential materials to have on hand.

Supnik recommends that jewelry-makers have a pattern planned out before beginning a project. A pattern can help the crafter know what color to add and in what order. She also mentions a couple of books and magazines that are good resources. Supnik relies on a few favorites, such as Creative Clay Jewelry and Jewelry Crafts Magazine, for inspiration and instruction.
