Materials:records toaster oven oven drill charms paper cutter or scissors cookie sheet pliers charm jump rings Record Cuff This project takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. - Heat the entire record in an oven on a cookie sheet at 200 degrees until you see the record start to bubble.
Tip: Vinyl earlier than the '70s is thicker and will make it harder to cut. You can purchase old records at thrift stores. Sometimes you can get really lucky and find colored vinyl. - Remove the record from the oven.
Safety Tip: Wear an oven mitt because the record will be extremely hot. - Cut your record into strips while hot with a paper cutter or scissors. When you cut the vinyl, if it is wavy, it will straighten out when you place it back in the oven again.
Note: Each record will produce two cuffs and two wrap around style cuffs (figure A). - Drill a hole (figure B) to the center rounded top of the strip if you want chain embellishment.
- Heat strips in the oven until flaccid--approximately two minutes on a cookie sheet.
- When hot, take out of the oven and quickly wrap around a bottle or mold (figure C).
- The record cools immediately and stays the shape of the bracelet.
- Attach a charm to the bracelet using jump rings (figure D).
Tip: You can always reheat your record to correct mistakes.
