Gift boxes done up right need no wrapping and can live beyond the gift exchange. In this project, Michele Beschen takes gift wrapping to another level by adding an element of sculpture: She uses papier mache techniques to dress up plain shoeboxes into special containers your gift recipients will want to keep for years to come. The project requires a good, solid cardboard box with a lidlike a shoebox. Aside from that, you'll need newspaper, glue, paint and a lot of creativity. The final result: a gift box that's a gift in its own right.
