Note: Damask has a pattern woven into the fabric.

    1. Mix acrylic paint with the fabric medium according to the manufacturer's specifications.

    2. Using a medium-sized paintbrush that's been dipped in water, gently brush color onto the raised parts of the damask fabric (figure A).

    3. Glue the rickrack to the parameter of the placemat on the underside (figure B) and along the bottom edge of the napkin on the underside using Fabri-Tac.

    4. To paint the flower on the napkin begin by painting little heart shapes to create the flower petals. At the base of each heart paint a little darker color to give the flower shading (figure C).

    5. Paint polka dots for the flower center.

    6. Paint a straight line in the center to create the stem.

    7. Iron the placemats and napkins to set the color. Follow the manufacturer's specifications.
