    Figure B

Meg Licursi, of Plaid Enterprises, creates a stamped pillow with a leaf motif.

    Materials:

    Rubber stamp
    Glaze
    Paper towels
    Sandpaper
    Cotton swabs
    Scissors
    Seam ripper
    Needle and thread

    1. Remove stitches and stuffing from pillow and set stuffing aside.

    2. Practice stamping design on paper or scrap fabric before beginning to determine the amount of glaze and stamping pressure needed.

    3. Place sandpaper between layers of fabric to prevent glaze from bleeding through.

    4. Use roller to evenly load glaze onto the stamp (figure A). Use a cotton swab to clean any excess from crevice or edges. Next, stamp design onto pillow. Use several colors as desired, or a single color.

    5. Use entire hand to press the stamp firmly (figure B).

    6. Reload the stamp before stamping the next design.

    7. When finished, allow fabric to dry overnight. Turn fabric inside out and use a dry iron on the cotton setting to heat-set the design.

    8. Stuff the pillow and stitch closed.
