- Start with your favorite holiday photograph and then decide on something from the picture such as a Christmas ornament and recreate it.
- Start with a flat piece of wood with bark on the edge (from a craft store) and two half circle cut-out logs (figure A). (On the show two reptile habitat logs from a pet store were used.)
- Place the two log halves onto the base leaving an opening at the front and mark where to glue.
- Glue felt to the inside of the log halves (figure B) and then glue them to the base with epoxy.
- Staple fake Christmas tree branches in the back filling in the hole but not completely.
- Add your favorite ornament and photograph to the greenery.
- Cover the front opening with a piece of Plexiglas cut to size and adhered with glue.
- For the roof, cut out the template on foam core, score on the lines, and bend the edges up.
- Trace a small square hole just big enough to accommodate the battery pack for the lights.
- Glue the two sides of the roof base, leaving one side of the roof open to provide access to the battery pack.
- Glue doll house shingles (figure C) to the roof.
- Paint the doll house shingles to match the wood.
- Add lights to the greenery and slip the battery pack through the hole in the roof base.
