Home economist Deborah Durham gives Edye Ellis, host of HGTV's Today at Home , tips for grouping mirrors in uncommon ways to add design interest. A row of mirrors hung high on the wall bordering the ceiling creates drama. Deborah centered a large gilt-edged sun mirror in the middle of each wall at the ceiling and arranged smaller ones in a row to the corners of the room. Consider decorating with mirrors in the kitchen. Avoid the expense of installing a mirrored backsplash, and hang a row of rectangular framed mirrors in the backsplash area. Mirrors can be stacked vertically as well for a larger under-cabinet space. To make a bold statement, use at least three mirrors in the grouping. When arranging a group of mirrors on a wall, begin with the largest, add a smaller mirror of similar shape, and end with a mirror of unusual shape--such as a sun mirror. Mixing shapes and sizes adds interest. Space the mirrors evenly to create a cohesive grouping.
