Materials: Sheet of pegboard
Stud finder
1" x 2" boards
Drill and bits
Circular saw
Tape measure
Drywall screws
Screwdriver - Before starting, determine how much wall area will be needed to cover with pegboard. The board will need to be fastened securely into wall studs, so make sure to have one at each end of the planned area.
Note: Wall studs are typically placed 16" apart, which means the length of the pegboard will need to be in 16" increments. - Measure up from the floor and mark where the bottom of the pegboard is to be located (figure A).
- Cut two pieces of the 1" x 2" lumber to the length of the pegboard.
- Drill pilot holes and secure the boards to the wall studs with drywall screws (figure B).
- Measure the distance between the top and bottom boards, cut two additional 1" x 2" boards to length and mount them to the wall studs (figure C) with drywall screws.
- Once the frame is complete, simply line up the pegboard and secure it to the frame with screws.
Note: Attach the screws at intervals of 12" to 18". There are a variety of hooks and pegs available that will help with organizing all of those loose items around the house or in the workshop.
