    Materials:

    Glass tabletop
Krylon stained-glass color: yellow, blue, purple and green
    Krylon frosted-glass finish in purple
Krylon short-cuts paint pen -- gloss black
    Low-tack painters tape (1" wide)
    Brown paper painters tape
    Arts and crafts pattern
    Safety goggles
    Glass cleaner and paper towels
    Craft knife
Permanent black marking pen/oil paint pen
    Pencil, ruler, straightedge, circle compass
    Kraft paper

    1. Use pencil to draw the pattern (figure A) onto kraft paper to fit size of glass tabletop. Use ruler, straightedge and circle compass to make accurate lines. Go over all lines with black marking pen.

    2. Determine which color each shape will be and mark the spaces on the pattern with the color name.

    3. Place pattern under glass. Clean glass thoroughly and remove all lint.

    4. Begin with one color area and mask off all other areas with tape. Following manufacturer's instructions on spray can, work in an area that is well ventilated. Spray first color (figure B), allow to set up about 30 minutes, then carefully remove the tape. Allow to dry several hours.

    5. Tape off next area and repeat with second color.

    6. To make circles and half-circles, place low-tack tape in an overlapping square over circle area. Trace circle onto tape and cut out inside circle with craft knife. Spray desired color (figure C).

    7. When design is complete and has dried thoroughly, use a paint pen and straightedge to mark "leading" lines (figure D).

    8. Finished tabletop is placed painted side down on glass table base.

Tip: Check bookstores for arts and crafts style designs.

Products: All other materials may be purchased at arts and craft stores nationwide. Paint is available at craft stores or from Krylon Paints (see Resources, below). The glass-topped table is available at furniture stores or garage sales. A glass top can be placed on a base.
