What better way to display blooms from your garden than in a one-of-a-kind painted glass vase? Garden craft artist Lark Foster shows how. Materials:
Glass vase Glass paint (translucent light green, dark green) Sponge brush Metallic copper permanent marker Scissors - Apply green glass paint to a glass vase with a sponge brush, working in one direction, from the bottom to the top (figure A).
- Starting at the bottom of the vase, wiggle the sponge brush slightly from side to side as you move up the vase, creating a rippled-glass look. Let dry about an hour.
- With a permanent copper metallic marker, draw a freehand design over the glass paint. Lark painted a fern (figure B).
- Fill in the design with dark-green glass paint. Cut the sponge-brush tip with scissors to create a smaller painting surface (figure C).
- Finish the top of the vase by painting the edge with the copper marker (figure D).
