    The garden before its transformation.

Dinosaurs, surprises and beauty are all part of a Minneapolis garden designed with children in mind.

The main garden area is circular so the kids can run in circles to their hearts' content. The pond is full of fish and frogs, fountains and cutouts of child-size dinosaurs. The owners didn't begin with a plan, and they see the garden as a work in progress. It changes constantly, as plants and props are moved here and there.

The family wanted to create a garden that would help their children learn to respect nature--and one that would welcome people of all ages. And although family comes first for this couple, the garden includes a few secret places with benches tucked away where the adults can enjoy a quiet moment alone.
