With a bug-off wagon garden, kids can make any corner of their yard look more colorful and discourage harmful bugs too. Just fill a wagon with fragrant plants that pesky bugs can't stand, such as lavender, rosemary, basil, sage, marigolds and Dahlberg daisies. Or try miniature sunflowers: birds will eat the seeds and stick around to eat harmful bugs. Hobby gardener Donna Hayes explains how to plant a bug-off wagon garden. Materials:
Wagon Packing peanuts (not biodegradable) Potting soil Gloves Garden trowel Plants - With a parent's permission, cover the wagon bottom with a single layer of packing peanuts (figure A).

- Add more soil around the plants to cover roots.
- Water your garden (figure D).
- Your bug-off wagon garden is ready to go.
