A bamboo towel rack, created by Amy Matthews and the Blog Cabin team, ties in well with the master bathroom's loosely translated Asian theme.

"Lakeside Zen" emerged as the look that voters picked for the master bath, and DIY host Amy Matthews was given the task of interpreting that theme. Amy chose a tranquil blue and green color palette, sustainably grown bamboo floors and a double vanity custom-built by a local artisan.

Grounding the color scheme is a serene blue wall paint, Sherwin-Williams' Granite Peak, from the vote-winning No Place Like Home color collection. Mosaic shower tiles from Crossville Tile were chosen to blend visually and complement the wall color selection.

Voters and bloggers expressed preference for an eco-friendly cabin, so Amy chose sustainably grown bamboo for the flooring: Morning Star Strand Tiger Bamboo from Lumber Liquidators.

The open double vanity and mirror were made using reclaimed wood and were crafted by woodworker and artisan Aaron Cabeen. The vanity features a rich, chocolate-brown countertop from Richlite and is an FSC-certified product, meaning that it was created according to guidelines of the Forest Stewardship Council which fosters improved and sustainable forestry practices. This particular countertop is actually a composite material made from recycled paper.

Matching pale green vessel sinks, mounted in an above-the-counter installation, complete the vanity and stay visually in keeping with Amy's color selections.

High vaulted ceilings and exposed beam detailing create a dramatic feel in this oversized master bath. Combined with the interior log walls and exposed log-ends, these features embody one of the purest examples of the natural and rustic atmosphere that defines the cabin interior.

Two other voter choices made their way into the master bath: a heated floor by Nu Heat and a power shower by Kohler, complete with a steam controls by Mr. Steam, and an aromatherapy system that can be used in conjunction with the shower or steam feature. The power shower features rain tiles, in-shower Soundtile speaker system and a wall-mounted electronic shower-control interface that can be set to personalized settings for multiple users. Hot water is supplied by two energy-saving, tankless water heaters installed on the basement level.

Though it was the cause of some debate between Amy and the Blog Cabin crew, a grand claw-foot tub by Kohler was ultimately decided upon as the centerpiece of the master bath, and Amy and contractors Chris and Simon Hodshon installed it. A claw-foot tub may have little connection with true principles of Japanese Zen, but this is "Lakeside Zen," so a little design improvisation was permitted. Resting against the wall at the foot of the tub, an unconventional ladder-style bamboo towel rack, created by Amy and the team, helps tie the visual theme together.
