On approaching the Blog Cabin from the front side, a number of the cabin's design attributes are in evidence right away, including the gabled construction which gives rise to interior vaulted ceilings and wraparound porches that are one of the cabin's standout features. These are all key characteristics of the San Jacinto floor plan selected as the first item in Blog Cabin's online voting.

The landscape leading to the cabin entryway features plants selected and planted by Blog Cabin host Ahmed Hassan. The plants Ahmed chose are indigenous varieties selected specifically to thrive in a lakeside setting. The plantings and landscaping are highlighted by solar-powered path lights, the "green outdoor feature" chosen by the voters.

Dual staircases lead up from the driveway to a single landing that provides entry to the front porch and cabin entryway. The double-hung windows, chosen by the online voters, are visible on either side of the front entrance, as is the caramel-colored, manmade stone that was used on the cabin exterior and outdoor retaining walls as well as inside for the fireplace surround.

The exposed beam construction, visible in many locations in the house interior, is evident here in the form of the heavy beam supports above the front entryway.

The log construction selected by the voters utilizes interlocking D-style logs throughout the cabin structure. All are real logs; there are no places in the construction that rely on simple log paneling to artificially create a log look. Butternut log stain, also chosen by voters, provides a warm, rich hue for the exterior.

The lighting at the front entryway features exterior wall-sconce style as well as a hanging pendant fixture, another winner in the early stages of online voting. An American flag, on display at the front of the home, was actually donated to the production by one of the online bloggers.

The solid wood front door offers a rustic but beautiful entrance to the cabin's great room area.
