  • Toilet Tune-up
  • Here's an easy trick to keeping the toilet in your bathroom running like new.

Whether your toilet is old or new, there is an easy trick that can fix a "double flush" problem. For this project, you will need the following:

    • Rubber gloves
    • Duct tape
    • A hand mirror
    • A flash light
    • A wire hanger

Put on the rubber gloves, then wrap duct tape around the edges so that no water gets inside. Using the flashlight and the mirror, look at the little holes under the rim of the toilet bowl. That's where the water flows into the bowl when you flush. Over time, those little rim holes can get clogged up with mineral deposits and grime.

To clear all the holes, cut a piece of wire hanger a few inches long. Then use the end of the wire to poke each hole until it's nice and clean. After cleaning all the holes, flush the toilet a couple of times to remove any loose and deposits.

From now on, all you'll need is one flush, and all it cost it was a wire hanger. Not a bad investment!
