A great gift idea for the coffee lover is to design your own mug and then fill it with wafer sticks or a bag of coffee beans and a copy of your favorite coffee recipe. Items Needed: Polyester type paints Brushes Plain mug (glass, white or colored) Varnish There are a lot of different sizes and shapes you can use. You can draw a design freehand or trace a pattern onto the cup. Fill in your major area first (figure A) for the sunflower design. After painting the sunflower, you can add little stems. Last, you can add little dots of different colors in the sunflower and around the sunflower (figure B) and the vines. Wait an hour before applying a second coat. Put a coat of varnish on the painted areas of the cup. To make the cups permanent and dishwasher safe, wait 6 days before using. To thin and mix the paints, you must use only varnish, not water. We at DIY believe all of the recipes from All in Good Taste are accurate and reliable, but since we have not tested them personally, we can claim no responsibility if the desired results are not achieved.
