Valance lights are a great way to light up an area on your wall.
A basic valance light consists of two short segments of 1" by 6" board supporting a longer 1" by 6" board in front of a fluorescent light fixture (figure A).
For a "cove lighting" effect, in which the light is directed upward, attach a bottom section to your valance light (figure B).
For a "cornice lighting" effect, in which the light is directed down, attach a top piece to the valance light (figure C).
