  • Quick-Tip: Swag Window Treatments
  • From "Ask DIY"
    episode ADI-507

Swags make wonderful soft window-treatments, but getting them to drape properly can be challenging. Nancy Golden offers the following designer tips.
    advertisement

    • Lay your material out flat and smooth, right-side-down.

    • Start at the top and begin by folding the material toward you in a 4 or 5-inch strip.

    • Make the next fold, turning away from you.

    • Continuing in this manner will result in an "accordion" or fan-pleated style.

    • Have a friend help you position the fabric evenly in the decorative brackets.

    • Now you can separate and fluff the folds in the material to achieve the desired swag effect.

    • If you don't want to use brackets, consider tying your swag directly to a drapery rod.
