    Figure B

Dental floss and beads -- that's all artist Kim Gordon needs to refashion a dated chandelier into an awesome light fixture.

Kim shows how easy and inexpensive it is to remake an old chandelier with dangling loops of beads (figure A). She began by removing the faux-crystal teardrops and plastic sleeves around each light (figure B). Then she painted the plastic sleeves, knotted loops of dental-floss-threaded beads from the teardrop attachment holes, and reinforced the knotted floss with dabs of glue. Try this easy makeover on the next $3 chandelier you run across at a yard sale.
