Because of the modern look of the bathroom, Golden uses very few accessories -- it's with the accessories in a minimalist setting that form and function meet. Golden plans to begin the minimalist approach by installing matchstick blinds (figure A) in the two windows. Here's how you can achieve the same results:

    1. Install the brackets (figure B) to the outside of the window casing.

    2. Drop a screw (figure C) into the bracket. The screw goes through a slit on the blind; then you simply secure it with a wing nut.

To draw more of the warm tones from the slate tile and carpet flooring into the room, Golden adds several touches that echo the warmth of the color scheme:

    • A wood pedestal with an unusual plant (figure D) in the small alcoves in front of the windows

    • A rattan chair and table set (figure E)

    • Silk pillows (figure F)

    • The homeowner's distressed table (figure G )

    • A basket filled with oversized bath towels (figure H).

    • A collection of family photos in decorative frames (figure I) on one wall of the bathroom.

Golden adds a towel bar to the vanity. Despite all of these accessories, the one that Golden promises your guests will love is the spa basket. It contains specific bathroom-related items such as slippers, towels and scented soaps, and Golden says that once guests arrive in this special retreat, they may never want to leave!
