- In order to clear away kitchen clutter, you need time and common sense. First, you need to empty your cabinets and sort everything closest to where the items will be used. For example, place the pot and pans in a drawer closest to the oven.
- Bins that attach to the inside of your cabinet doors will prevent lids from going astray.
- Place potholders close to the stove.
- Dishes and silverware should be placed near the sink, along with all the clean up tools.
- Another handy item to have near the sink at all times is the colander; you could even try hanging it on a wall next to the sink.
- If appliances seem to multiply on your counter tops, consider frequency as the rule of thumb. The coffee maker and can opener seem to get the most use, so keep them out. Gadgets like the blender and rice steamer that you only use occasionally, try storing them in a cabinet.
- A microwave takes up a lot of room, so consider buying a cart to place it on or and over-the-stove model.
