Materials:2 queen size flat sheets (different colors/patterns) sewing machine Velcro strips straight pins duvet queen size iron 4 strips of bias tape cut 6" long - Match two flat queen size sheets together, right sides facing, and pin together. You will want to have at least 1" seam allowance on each side (figure A).
- Before you begin to sew, attach two strips of bias tape splitting the center of the inside top of the sheets.
- When you sew the straight stitch across the top, these will be sewn into the top hem. Measure that same distance on the comforter and hand stitch the other two pieces of bias tape.
Note: This will allow you to tie the comforter to the duvet cover so it won't shift around in the middle of the night. Tip: If you don't have a sewing machine or don't feel comfortable sewing, you can take the pinned sheets to your local tailor or dry cleaners and have them sew them together for a small amount of money. - Sew the sheets together using a straight stitch. Leave the bottom open for easy removal of comforter.
- To finish off the duvet cover, use four pieces of Velcro strips to close the opening (figure B). Equally space the Velcro on the inside edge of the opening. Peel and stick the strips and then hand stitch to secure the Velcro to the fabric.
