    Unpacking After a Trip

    • Unpack right away.

    • Avoid rummaging through bags. Think ahead—bring a mesh bag on the trip for dirty laundry.

    • Separate whites and darks or bring one mesh bag for each so it can easily go into the washing machine (figure A).

    • Do the laundry as soon as possible.

    • As you unpack, take inventory. Did you leave anything behind? Do you need to replace anything in your kit, bag, i.e. toothpaste or travel size products.

    • Put away passport. Place it back in a safe place as soon as you get home.

    • What could you have lived without? Make a list if you brought items along that you didn't use. Maybe they can stay home next time. Stick the list in your suitcase to remind yourself!

    • Many hotels come well equipped with hair dryers.

    • Perhaps bringing three books was a bit too ambitious!
