    Expiration Date Reminder

More than ever we have come to rely on electronic gadgets to keep our lives and households running smoothly. Inevitably, some of them will break down or require repairs, in which case you need to access the warranty quickly. Here are a few ways to keep track of this important paperwork, and expiration dates.

Option #1: Put Warranty Information on Box

    • Store the receipt and warranty slips in a re-sealable plastic bag.

    • Write the expiration date on a self-adhesive label, and affix it to the bag.

    • Attach the bag to the box the item came in (figure A).

    • Clearly putting the warranty expiration dates on the box the item came in lets you know to throw those cartons away.

Option #2: Create a Warranty Notebook

    • Purchase a pocket notebook or a binder with plastic protector sheets.

    • Organize the warranties and all other products together by year, type of appliance or area of the house where it is used.

    • Keep track of the following: what the warranty covers, when and where you purchased the item, and the expiration date and contact information.
