Keychains—keychains can be high end or low end, but if you want one that is high tech, look for ones like this one (figure A). First and foremost, it has a timer in it that you can set so you will know how much time you have left in your parking meter. It also has a voice recorder on it and you can record where you parked and if you forget, the keychain remembers! It is also easy to get your keys on and off, which is helpful. Expect to spend approximately $20 on this. It's a fun gift to give.

    • Stoplight Sensor Gadget—when you pull your vehicle into your garage and never know how close the car is to the wall—this is the gadget for you because it tells you. You mount it on the inside of your garage wall and there are sensors that can tell how close your car is to the wall. It will read green if you have more room to move forward or red if you need to stop (figure B). So, no more guesstimating how much room you have and this may save you money if you bang up that wall a lot! The cost is approximately $30.

    • High Tech Compass—this gadget is great because it is also a weather station. It can show you the temperature and also predict the weather (figure C). It can stick to your windshield and will go off automatically when the car goes off. It will warn of freezing conditions and it is also a compass first and foremost. They start at approximately $50—but it is a fun gadget to have.

    • Emergency Auto Starter—this is portable and charges your car's battery in minutes! This can also charge your cell phones, MP3 players, camera, camping lanterns, etc. You charge it at home and then bring it into your car. This is a great thing to have in case of emergencies (figure D). It costs approximately $70.

    • Hot and Cold Coolers—this cooler is unique because it is also a warmer (figure E). It is an electronic mini refrigerator that keeps drinks and snacks cold in your car but also keeps things warm if needed. You can secure in between seats and plug it into the dashboard power socket. You can find coolers for as little as $35 and can be a lifesaver for long travels.
