  • Decorating Quick-Tip: Wallpaper Border
  • From "Ask DIY"
    episode ADI-502

An easy way to change the look of a room is through the use of wallpaper border. But that's only the beginning. Here are some suggestions from DIY decorating expert Nancy Golden for making a wallpaper border stand out.

    • Consider using paint to make a contrasting or coordinating strip underneath the border.

    • Before installing your border, select a color that stands out against your wall color, and paint a strip that is 4 to 6 inches wider than your border.

    • Make certain that the paint is dry before hanging the border, and take time to center the border properly on the painted strip.

    • Another idea is to use some pre-made narrow molding. Place the molding above or below your border -- or both -- making certain that the molding covers the edges of the wallpaper.
