    episode DKNG-306

The Alene Camisole is multidirectional, which means we will be knitting the bodice from the middle up and the lacy body from the middle down. Oftentimes the direction in which a lace is knitted will affect the finished look of the edging, such as whether you'll end up with scallops or points at the bottom.

We'll also be changing to larger needle sizes twice while working the body. This will allow the circumference to grow slightly larger with each size we go up without having to change the number of stitches on the needle or distorting the lace pattern. This is an easy way to add shaping to a garment.

With size 6 needles and beginning at lower center front of bodice, pick up 139 (139, 157, 157, 175, 175, 193) sts (figure A) and work in Lace Pattern St, leaving center front open and working back and forth on circular needle until lower body measures 2". Switch to size 7 needle (figure B) and continue for 2" more, switch to size 8 needle and continue until garment measures 14 (14, 15, 15, 16, 16-1/2, 18-1/2)" from underarm to hem.

    Knit Bit: Pattern Flip Book

You'll never get lost in your pattern again if you follow this simple technique: Make an enlarged photocopy of your pattern. Cut out the instructions for each row and glue them individually to 3x5 cards. Punch holes in the cards and slip them onto inexpensive O-rings. As you finish a row, flip the card for the instructions for the next row!
