Knitted I-cord is used to embellish a pillow (handmade or purchased).Materials:
double-pointed needles (dpn), 1 pair US size 10.5
1 skein in each of 2 coordinating colors of Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky
knitted pillow to embellish
hand sewing needle
thread in coordinating colors
tapestry needle
measuring tape (optional)
Note: As with regular knitting, use whatever size needle is appropriate to the yarn used; the larger the needle, the thicker the I-cord will be.
1. Prepare by using a measuring tape to estimate lengths of I-cord needed to embellish the pillow as desired.
2. Using dpn, co 3 stitches.
3. K every stitch.
4. Slide the stitches to the other end of the dpn.
5. K every stitch again.
6. Slide the stitches back to the other end again.
7. Continue until the cord is the desired length to embellish the pillow.
8. Bind off all stitches.
9. Weave in ends of the I-cord with the tapestry needle.
10. Cut paper templates to the desired sizes, or use a round object, such as a paper plate or bowl, as a guide for circles.
11. Lay the I-cord around the circular guide and pin in place.
12. With a needle and thread, stitch the I-cord to the pillow.
13. Continue pinning and stitching the I-cord around the edge of pillow, if desired.
