Visible brushstrokes left behind from applying paint or glaze can sometimes detract from the finished look of a crafts project. Debbie Stapely offers these suggestions for avoiding this common problem.
- When applying the first coat, brush in one direction, covering the entire surface.
- Still applying the first coat, brush then in the other direction -- again covering the entire surface.
- If applying a second coat, or multiple coats, wait until the preceding coat has dried completely before applying the next coat.
- These brushing tips will help eliminate visible brushstrokes whether you're using a bristle brush or foam brush.
- To get rid of existing visible brushstrokes, remove them with a very light sanding using ultrafine sandpaper.
