While recently attending the circus, designer Andrea Grossman realized she had forgotten her camera. She wanted to capture the day in her scrapbook, and without photos, had to get creative. Grossman decided that by adding her mementos and embellishing with stickers, she could recapture the spirit of the big top in her scrapbook. Materials: 12" x 12" yellow cardstock
8" x 6-3/4" white cardstock
Assorted animal and circus stickers
Blue polka dot and red check border stickers
Metallic gold thread
Small scissors
Adhesive
Mounting tape
Powder
- Begin by folding white card stock in half, then glue circus program cover (or other memento) to the outside to form the journaling panel. (It should open like a book.) Write your experience for the day inside to preserve the memories.
- Apply blue polka dot border stickers around outside edge of page, then adhere the red checked border sticker just inside the blue dotted stickers.
- Here, Grossman selected a giraffe to adhere to the right side of the page. She first cuts the mouth of the giraffe, then inserts one end of the gold thread underneath (figure A). The other end of the gold thread is used to form a tight rope wire. Next, the circus journaling booklet is adhered to the upper right corner to just cover the end of the wire.
- An additional animal sticker -- here, a cycling bear -- is added atop the tight rope wire (figure B).
- Additional animal stickers are added to the bottom of the page, and additional mementos and embellishments are added to complete the page.
