Julianna Hudgins adds decorative trim to a page using small treasures and tube ribbon. Materials: Heavy cardstock or decorative paper Small scissors Tube ribbon An assortment of beads, sequins and appliques Tape Tiny treasures and small memorabilia Acid-free adhesive Mousepad Decorative scrapbook nailhead Craft stick Glue dot or white glue - Use scissors to cut two slits into heavy paper on the left side middle of page at a minimum of 1/2" inward, and approximately 1/4" apart.
- Cut a piece of tube ribbon 6 inches longer than paper size being used. For a 12 x 12 piece of paper you would cut a 18 inch long piece. Weave ribbon through both cuts, then place evenly on page so that excess ribbon is equal on top and bottom.
- Begin filling the bottom of tube ribbon with treasures such as beads, sequins, and appliques (figure A). Close by folding excess ribbon under paper and secure with tape. Tip: You can also insert personal treasures such as an old friendship ring, medals, and tickets to a special event or any other memorabilia.
- Insert treasures into top of ribbon Apply appliques to top of ribbon where cuts were made and ribbon has been woven.
- Apply decorative trim to bottoms of photos. Use an acid free adhesive to back of trim and then lay flat to dry
- Using a mouse pad as a work surface, place applique on top of pad. Place a decorative nail head in the middle of applique and with even pressure insert nail head through applique (figure B). Remove from mouse pad and using a craft stick push prongs inward to lie flat against back surface of applique. Place finished piece on top of a larger applique and glue together with glue dot or white glue.
- Place photos and puffs randomly on page.
