Use tape carving to transform the mundane page into a masterpiece! This is a fun and easy technique to jazz up die cuts, stickers or illustrations on photoless pages. Designer Emily Adams demonstrates.

    Materials:

    8" x 10" Scrappy Tape sheet
A variety of glitter, beads or other tiny embellishments
    Scissors
    Craft knife
    Punch Pick
    Bead and glitter tray
    Glitter brush
Illustrated die-cut, sticker or design of your choice

    1. After you have selected your design, pull back the plastic backing on your Scrappy Tape sheet (with the adhesive sticking to the red transparent protective coating) and place the picture underneath the tape with the illustrated side facing up.

Next cut the image out of the sheet of tape. Be sure to trim to the edge since any tape left to hang over the sides will interfere with the design. Then trace the lines of the picture with a craft knife (figure A) as if you were tracing the image with a pencil, cutting only through the protective coating.

    2. Remove the protective coating of the tape that covers an area on the design. Use the Punch Pick to peel back the protective coating (figure B) if you have difficulty getting it started. If you are using glitter (or shaved ice), you can just pour it directly onto the exposed adhesive; however, if you are using tiny beads pour them into the bead and glitter tray and rub the die cut face down in them until the area is covered.

    3. Wisk away excess using a glitter brush (figure C) between colors. The bead and glitter tray will catch the surplus so you can funnel it back into your container. Tip: With all of these embellishments, you will need to rub them into the tape to ensure the area is completely covered and that everything is firmly adhered.

    4. Repeat this process by color sections until the entire die cut is decorated. Once your carving is complete you can adhere it to your page or project like you would any other embellishment.
