Now that the closets are exposed without the doors, and the closet interiors have a fresh coat of paint, Golden plans to use them as workstations in the further transformation of the craft room. In order to utilize all the space the room has to offer, she decides to attach wire shelves to the closet interiors, using one closet as a sewing station and the other as a jewelry-making station (figure A). She suggests wire shelves for two reasons: first, they are smooth and won't catch on fabric or other crafts, and second, a variety of sizes are available at any home-improvement store, suitable for any closet size.

    1. Mark the wall for shelves with a pencil and use a level (figure B) when drawing the tick marks for shelf placement.

    2. Hammer a hole into the wall using a nail set.

    3. Next, take a wall clip (figure C), also available at any home-improvement store, and hammer the wall clip into the hole.

    4. Lay the shelf into the wall clip and attach the brace (figure D) to the wall using an anchor. The brace will support the shelf if heavy items will be stored on it.
