    Once again, guest Emi Fukushima brings the Oriental influence to the show. During this visit, she shapes clay into Christmas ornaments that look like sushi. As she's performing her delicate craft, Fukushima explains the difference between two versions of sushi: Nigiri and Maki.

    Materials for Nigiri Sushi:

    Fimo clay
    white (#O)
    black (#49)
    yellow (#1)
    Bordeaux (#23)
    beige (#2)
    orange (#4)
    pasta machine or rolling pin
    needle tool
    eye pin
    Fimo glaze
    E6000 glue
    baking parchment paper

    Steps:

    1. Mix a small amount of #23, #4 and #1 clay to produce pink.
    2. Condition the clay in a pasta machine or with a rolling pin.
    3. Roll the black clay into a flat sheet, to 1/8 inch thickness or #5 setting on the pasta machine. This piece will represent the seaweed wrapped around the sushi.
    4. Shape the white clay into small oval shapes. These will become the rice balls.
    5. To create the shrimp topping, shape the pink mixture into the shape of a shrimp, using the needle tool to make veins.
    6. For the egg roll, flatten a piece of yellow clay to 1/4 inch thickness or #2 setting on the pasta machine. Cut small rectangular shapes and wrap a small strip of black clay (the seaweed) around each.
    7. To produce the tuna, flatten a sheet of Bordeaux to 1/4 inch thickness or feed through the pasta machine on #2 setting. Cut small rectangular shapes, and draw the fish scales with needle tool.
    8. With the beige clay, shape the hamachi in the same way as the tuna.
    9. Make tiny little balls with orange clay to represent the roe. Put a group of these balls on each white clay rice ball, and wrap each with a strip of black seaweed.
    10. Cut eye pins about 1/2 inch and insert into each piece of sushi.
    11. Lay the pieces on a sheet of baking parchment paper and bake in a 265 degree oven for 20 minutes.
    12. When cool, to secure the eye pins, remove them and put a drop of glue on one end of each. Reinsert the pins into the sushi.
    13. Brush on the glaze and let dry.
    Materials for Maki Sushi:
    Same as for Nigiri sushi, with the addition of green (#57) Fimo and tissue blades to slice the clay.

    Steps:
    1. Condition the clay with the pasta machine or rolling pin.
    2. Roll a 5" x 6" sheet of black clay to 1/4" thickness or feed through the pasta machine on the thickest setting.
    3. Roll a 5" x 6" sheet of white clay to approximately 1/2 inch thickness.
    4. Stack the white on top of the black sheet.
    5. Make thin "snakes" with the other five colors (yellow, Bordeaux, beige, orange and green).
    6. Bundle together the five "snakes" and place on top of the white clay.
    7. Roll them like you are making a jelly roll.
    8. Roll and stretch this jelly roll to the desired size in diameter.
    9. Cut with the tissue blade to the desired thickness for the sushi.
    10. Insert the eye pins into the black rims. These will become the hangers.
    11. Place the pieces on baking parchment paper and bake in a 265-degree oven for 20 minutes.
    12. Remove the eye pins, add glue to the tips, and reinsert into the sushi.
    13. Brush on the glaze and let dry.
