The project idea sent in by Martha Sanders Inks of Powell, Ohio, proved to be a surprise--a fun way to use throw-a-ways and a unique way to make decorative paper to use in your card making, scrapbooks, stationery decorating, etc.
Martha discovered that the envelopes that many of her bills come in have decorative linings--some are blue, some green, some black, and a few are red. Most feature small all-over prints. With these as a starting point, Martha cuts up the envelopes, flattens the backs, and with wide and narrow tipped marking pens draws stripes and plaids and checks and wavy lines and whatever else she happens to think of.
It is almost unbelievable what complex-looking patterns and designs you can achieve by adding just a few colored lines. Try it and delight yourself. Then use those decorative papers in other paper projects. As an added note, Martha mentioned that she often uses the cellophane window in the envelope for making butterfly or dragonfly wings!
