Homeowners Kirsten and Clint have called their 1963 rambler "home" for the last six years. Kirsten's parents actually built the home in 1963 and sold it about 12 years later. Then, when Kirsten and Clint found the house was for sale, they jumped at the chance to raise their two boys in this well-built but outdated home.
Kirsten and Clint love retro style and have started to bring those elements into the home. They've added a great '50s checkerboard floor to the kitchen, but the rest of the kitchen design falls short. They've replaced a couple appliances, painted the outdated cabinets and tried a bold color scheme but the only thing that really works is the floor.
DIY's Kitchen Renovations host Paul Ryan is going to help them decide what elements to keep, what to trash and show them some possibilities for an exciting retro kitchen.
