Weekend Mechanic host Bruce Bonebrake addresses some fairly common front-end problems on two separate pickup trucks. The symptoms: One of the trucks pulls to the right while driving while the other makes a "popping" sound on rough roads. Truck #1 is examined and it is determined that the brakes are bad on the front and the tie-rods and idler-arm are in need of replacement. The tie-rods and idler arm are replaced first, and then a new brake rotor and loaded caliper are installed. Truck #2 has bad ball joints which need replacement. The spindle is pulled off the truck and the old ball joints are pressed out. he new ball joints are then pressed in and the spindle is replaced. The backing plate, wheel with rotor, caliper and bearing are then replaced.
