Fill the water basin with distilled water (figure A). Regular tap water can be very hard and could cause calcification and mineral deposits on the stone as well as shortening the life of the pumps. 2. Prime the stone with a spray bottle or sponge to completely wet down the slate before turning on the waterfall (figure B). Otherwise, the water will not run evenly over the surface. 3. Turn on the waterfall (figure C). 4. Check the water level everyday and make sure your pump does not run dry.
