The swing is finished -- now it's time to prepare it for hanging.

    Materials:

    Aerosol exterior wood finish
    Drill with 3/8" bit
    3/8" Eye-bolts
    Washer and nuts
    Safety hooks
    Plastic coated steel chain
    Heavy-duty safety hooks and eye-bolts

    1. Measure from bottom of post about 5" (on both front and back posts).

    2. Drill hole through outer side of post (figure A) and add eye-bolt (figure B). Use washer and nut to secure.

    3. Repeat for all posts.

    4. Then, spray on quick-drying exterior finish (clear) to protect the wood (figure C).

    5. While swing is drying, prepare area where swing will hang. Safety hooks should be added to ends of chain to hook to eye-bolt on swing (figure D).

    6. The front chains will be slightly shorter than the back length of chain. The two will be joined in the middle (figure E) by a thick fastener.

    7. At the chain's end, another heavy-duty safety hook will join a heavy-duty eye-bolt that has been secured to a ceiling beam (figure F).

    8. Finally, the safety hooks on the short and long ends of the chain are attached to the swing's eye-bolt and the swing is hung.
